Orthopaedic
We have been taking orthopaedic referrals since 2017.
Total Hip Replacement:
Working with the Kyon supplied Zurich Cementless system designed to relieve chronic joint pain and provide a fully functional recovery. Over the last 20 years, more than 20,000 dogs worldwide have been treated with the Zurich Cementless hip replacement system. The system has gone through multiple iterations aiming to improve the long-term performance of the device. Further details available here: www.kyon.ch
Cranial Cruciate Ligament Repair:
Approached via TPLO or Intra-articular Ligament placement.
Annually we see c100 cases of cranial cruciate ligament damage caused by either acute rupture or chronic disease. Historically we approached via a TTA, since then transitioning to TPLO. More recently we have introduced the Intra-articular ligament technique for appropriate cases. Further details available here: https://www.vetlig.com/ligaments/
In addition we routinely take referrals for:
Fracture, diagnosis and repair in both dogs and cats of any size.
Corrective osteotomy, used for a number of indications including to relieve the ‘bow string’ tension on a long bone when its rate of growth is slower than its partnering long bone resulting in deviation of the limb as it grows and in cases of patella luxation where torsion of the long bones is identified.
Arthrodesis, usually performed when there are no other options to preserve the joint's function.
Femoral Head Ostectomy.
We can normally see referred orthopaedic patients within 24 hours of initial contact. Please feel free to make initial contact via the ‘Referrals Portal’ or call any member of the referrals team.
